Long-term observations of daily currents measured by DVS at SAMBA Mooring 9 (December 2015 - April 2017)

The South African component of the international South Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation project (SAMOC-SA) aims to characterise the time-mean and time-varying components of the SAMOC in the South Atlantic Ocean and monitor the variability of the main Southern Ocean frontal systems associated with the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC), south of Africa. Here we present processed magnitude and direction of daily currents in the water column (1569 - 2669m) from Dopler Volume Sampler (DVS) instruments located at M9 (34.50017°S; 17.1394°E) along the South Atlantic MOC Basin-wide Array (SAMBA) transect in the Cape Basin region of the South Atlantic Ocean, between 03 December 2015 and 08 April 2017.
