Long-term observations of daily currents along the SAMBA transect at SAMBA Mooring 9 (September 2014 - December 2015)

The South African component of the international South Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation project (SAMOC-SA) aims to characterise the time-mean and time-varying components of the SAMOC in the South Atlantic Ocean and monitor the variability of the main Southern Ocean frontal systems associated with the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC), south of Africa. Here we present processed magnitude and direction of daily currents in the upper part of the water column (42.35 - 410.28m) from an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) located at a depth of 435m at M9 (34.5002°S; 17.1394°E) along the South Atlantic MOC Basin-wide Array (SAMBA) transect in the Cape Basin region of the South Atlantic Ocean, between 18 September 2014 and 01 December 2015.
